Antonio Saura was born in 1930 in Huesca, Spain, and was one of the famous Spanish artists of the last 50 years.
We represent his works since the foundation of our gallery, and we organized his last individual exhibition in Germany, short before he passed away in 1997.
Just to give short notes about his extended biography, we cannot forget that he founded the group "El Paso" in 1957, took part of the "Biennial" in Venice in 1958 and in the "Documenta" in Kassel in 1960. In the same years, he won the Guggenheim Award in New York. Actually, since the end of the 50´s, it's almost impossible to imagine an international art market without his portraits, which find themselves between abstraction and figuration.
The outstanding theme of his creations are the portraits, and from them, the ladies. That pretends to be a dedication the Portrait series trough the art history.
Antonio Saura passed away in 1998 in Cuenca, Spain.
